P.E. at School
The emphasis is on giving each child an opportunity to experience enjoyment and success at their own level. Pupils have two hours of PE timetabled per week through which we develop the physical literacy skills as set out in the National Curriculum. Children in Year 5 (Autumn 1 - Spring 1) and Year 4 (Spring 2 - Summer 2) have the opportunity of weekly swimming lessons and we aim for all pupils leaving the school to be able to swim at least 25 metres.
These skills are taught via a wide range of sports including football, netball, hockey, kwik cricket and short tennis, as well as athletics. All pupils have the opportunity to take part in a range of tournaments and sports festivals both within school and with other schools and you can find details of these here.
Uxendon achieved the Silver School Games Mark for our commitment, engagement and delivery of competitive school sport. The Games Mark is awarded through the Your School Games which is a key part of the Government’s programme to secure a sporting legacy from London 2012. This award provides a unique opportunity to motivate and inspire millions of young people across the country to take part in more competitive school sport.
