Literacy

Monday 13th January 2020

As this is your child’s last week in reception, we would like them to think about the things they have enjoyed learning and taking part in during the year. We understand that a large part of their learning will have taken place at home, however we would encourage you and your child to look back at the class photos and end of term newsletters on our website, which will have given a brief insight into the different activities, trips and experiences during the autumn and spring term.

On the template below, encourage your child to write about their favourite memories during their first year at school.

Remember to use capital letters at the beginning of sentences, finger spaces to separate words and full stops at the end of each sentence.

Encourage your child to read the summer related words and follow the instructions to colour the pictures in correctly.

Wednesday 15th July 2020

Encourage your child to read each of the summer words on the sheet. Ask them to think of as many words that rhyme with them. They can then write the rhyming words on the lines underneath.

Thursday 16th July 2020

Encourage your child to revisit some of the different traditional tales they have learnt during their reception year. On each slide, there will be a clue about a well-known traditional tale. Ask your child to guess which traditional tale they think it is. Use each slide to find out how much they know about that story.

We have added some traditional tale colouring sheets for your child to complete if they wish to do so.

Have some fun with your child using these challenge cards. The clues on each card will encourage your child to think on the spot. As an extra challenge they could find you one of each of these objects. Enjoy!
