Discuss the sequence of planting a seed with your child. You can use the ‘How to Grow a Plant’ posters from yesterday’s activity as a guide. Introduce them to time connectives (first, next, then, finally) and explain that these are used when we want to give instructions. Focus on the use of these time connectives to write the instructions in the correct order on the template below.

Read the story The Tiger Who Came to Tea together. Encourage your child to read any high frequency and tricky words which appear in the text. Focus on the beginning, middle and end of the story.
Key questions to ask your child after reading the the story:
How many characters are there in ‘The Tiger Who Came to Tea’?
Who do you think is the main character in this story?
Is there more than one main character?
How would you feel if this was you?
What about if you were the other character in this scene?
Would you feel the same/different? Why?
What might the characters be thinking?
How might they be feeling inside?

The story map will help them to visualise the characters and setting of the story as well as sequencing the main events.
