Maths

As well as the activities below please encourage your child to orally count everyday to 10/20 or beyond if they can. Also practise recognising the numbers everyday in a random order. Do this using the number cards below, hold one up and ask your child to name it then show them another. Use the numbers your child knows (0-5/0 -10 or 0-20) and only introduce one or two more numbers as a challenge for them and tell them the numbers they don't know yet. Your child can also hold up the correct amount of fingers to match the number - 0-10. There is also a copy of the numbers for your child to practise number writing.

Monday 8th June

Practical counting holiday objects

Cut out the number cards attached below with your child (you might have these from last week). Your child can have a go at this themselves if you show them how to hold the scissors correctly. As they cut out each number encourage them to tell you what the number is. Use the numbers your child knows (0-5/0 -10 or 0-20) and only introduce one or two more numbers as a challenge for them and tell them the numbers they don't know yet.

Ask your child to find some holiday objects for a cold of hot holiday they have at home - these could be jumpers, shirts, t shirts, hats, sunglasses, shoes, socks etc and a suitcase. Put the items next to the suitcase. Put all the number cards face down on the table/ floor and ask you child to choose one and name it. Put that card at the bottom of the suitcase and encourage you child to count that amount of items to put in the suitcase.  Encourage your child to say one number name at a time as they place one item in the suitcase at a time. Repeat this a few times with your child using different number cards.
