Phase 3

Monday 8th June 2020

Today you will revisit capital letters with your child. Explain to them the alphabet is made up of both upper and lower case letters. We call upper case letters capital letters. We start writing our name with a capital letter and most importantly we always begin a sentence with a capital letter.

Please continue practicing capital letters daily until you are satisfied that your child knows them.

Recap all the sounds from Phase 3 with your child.

Ask your child to read and write the following words.

high   sigh   light   coat   load    goat

 

Recap the rules for writing a sentence with you child:

  • Begin with a capital letter
  • Leave a finger space between the words
  • Put a full stop at the end of your sentence

Ask your child to read and write the following sentences.

It was a long night.  

 

Then she put the loaf in the pan.

Thursday 11th June 2020

Cut out the words and ask your child to place them in the the correct order to build a sentence.

Friday 12th June 2020

Sentence substitution

Ask your child to read the sentence.

You can hear a goat.

Ask your child to substitute some words. Does it make sense?

Ask your child to write the new sentences.
