Description of school:
Uxendon Manor Primary School is a friendly and forward thinking school which is starting an exciting journey as we expand from two to four forms of entry over the next few years. Uxendon Manor is fully committed to ensuring that every child maximises their potential and this is reflected by our impressive achievement in mathematics over the past four years with an average of 96% of children achieving level 4 or above. We received 100% positive feedback from the eleven training sessions that we led in 2015-16 as part of our work as a Specialist Centre, involvement in the LSEF project and the BTSA NQT programme. The comments below demonstrate the high quality training that we offer: ‘A really outstanding workshop – one of the best I have attended!’, ‘Excellent training. The opportunity to talk to the children was extremely useful as were the resources and group activities. Can we have more sessions at Uxendon?’
Areas to be covered:
The six sessions we will deliver in 2016-17 will enable teachers to reflect upon global learning links within the
Primary Maths Curriculum, provide pedagogical approaches and resources to take back and implement in
school. Participants will also be provided with mathematical strategies that will encourage young people to
be critical about their own progress and develop their thinking skills. We want to provide schools across
Brent with the opportunity for high quality assured training where good maths practice is shared in an
open forum.
