We have been running free English (ESOL) classes for Parents at Uxendon Manor for the past 7 years for Parents at various stages of learning English from functional skills for beginners, pre-entry, entry level 1, entry level 2 and level 1 in English. 

They take accredited exams at the end of the year in speaking and listening, reading and writing.

21 Parents have attended all exams for 6 years and have gone on to complete their GCSE in English at Stanmore college.

Wow! What a wonderful achievement for the Parents in our community and our families showing true perseverance and resilience!

Parents attend twice a week for 3 hours or three times a week for 2 hours each week throughout the year. We have a qualified ESOL teacher who comes to Uxendon Manor from Stanmore College. English classes continued virtually throughout lockdown.

To date 121 Parents over the years have passed National Qualifications of functional skills, pre-entry, entry level 1, entry level 2 and Level 1 English in speaking and listening, reading and writing.

As a consequence 45 Parents who attended the English classes at Uxendon Manor are now in employment since completion of exams.

Very well done to all our Parents on this astounding achievement showing true commitment and dedication!
